Apply for a Freight Loading and Unloading Permit

Is your business loading or unloading freight downtown?

Freight permits are only granted to those businesses with a need to load or unload freight downtown that have a gross vehicle weight of 5,000 pounds or a vehicle width exceeding 80 inches.

Step 1.Gather your Information

You are required to submit a copy of the vehicle registration and tag number for each vehicle moving freight. If you are applying for a new permit or renewing a permit for multiple vehicles, you can submit a spreadsheet with all vehicle information during the application process. 

Step 2.Apply for a permit

IMPORTANT: Applications will be discarded if payment is not received within 45 days of approval.

Step 3.Make a payment

Once your application has been reviewed, you will receive an email regarding your total amount due and payment options.

Freight permits are valid until September 30 of each year and are prorated based on the following schedule:

Jan.1 - Mar. 31 $55.91 $23.96
April 1 - June 30 $37.28 $15.98

Step 4.Receive your freight permit

Once your application has been approved and payment has been processed, your freight permits will be ready for pickup at:

Orlando, FL 32801 

Keep in mind:

  • You can't exceed 30 minutes in a freight zone and you can't return within 30 minutes of leaving.
  • Your permit must be visible and attached to the rear of the vehicle and you must be actively loading and unloading.
  • Freight zones are clearly marked with a sign and the curb is painted orange.

Step 2.Download and fill out the permit application

You can print and fill out the form in advance and bring it with you to save time at our office.

You can also request a form at our office and fill it out there if you don't have a printer.

Step 3.Visit the Parking office

Bring the completed application to our office or request one at:

Step 4.Make a payment

Step 5.Receive your freight permit

We will issue your freight permit at the front office window as soon as your permit has been approved and paid for.
