Black History Month Art Exhibition Opening Reception 2026
Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer, District 5 City Commissioner Shan Rose, District 6 City Commissioner Bakari F. Burns, and the Orlando City Council invite the community to attend the Opening Reception of the City of Orlando’s Black History Month Art Exhibition on Wednesday, February 3, 2026, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Terrace Gallery in Orlando City Hall.
This year’s exhibition features 52 works by 28 local visual artists, inspired by the 2026 national Black History Month theme, “A Century of Black History Commemorations.” This centennial exhibition explores how, for 100 years, Black History Month has shaped the study, sharing, and celebration of Black history across schools, cultural institutions, and communities worldwide. From early commemorations of emancipation to contemporary expressions of creativity, resilience, and achievement, the observance continues to expand public understanding and illuminate the contributions of the global African diaspora.
The exhibition highlights and honors the transformative impact of labor on Black experiences while furthering Orlando’s ongoing commitment to fairness, belonging, and cultural representation.
The art exhibition will be on display from February 3 through April 5, 2026.
