The City of Orlando is pleased to celebrate the positive contributions of our African American residents by dedicating the month of February 2026 to honoring Orlando's rich and diverse Black culture and heritage. Black history is an integral part of American history because African Americans have played an essential role in building and shaping our country.

Our prestigious Black History Month programming will feature the opening reception of the city's Black History Month art exhibition at City Hall's Terrace Gallery on Tuesday, February 3 from 5 to 8 p.m., and our signature community event, which will highlight this year's national Black History Month theme, "A Century of Black History Commemorations."

In 2026, we celebrate the 100th anniversary of Black History Month in Orlando by exploring the impact and meaning of Black history and life in the growth, development, and history of our country. The importance of Black History Month could not be greater than today. Black history's value lies in its many contributions to mainstream historical narratives, which resonate in the lives of all people.

In the City of Orlando, we are committed to continuing to celebrate all our cultures and dedicating the month of February to Orlando's rich and diverse Black culture and heritage.

The City of Orlando is seeking local visual artists to display their artwork to celebrate Black History Month in the Terrace Gallery at Orlando City Hall from February 3 to March 31, 2026. Art is an intrinsic part of Black heritage and culture, and the city is offering an opportunity for artists to showcase the diverse richness of African American history and heritage through the visual arts.
