The City of Orlando was awarded more than $3 million toward construction and implementation of 28 additional quick build projects across the city, as well as the update to our Vision Zero plan and the creation of a Pedestrian Facilities Plan to improve pedestrian safety across the city, especially in high traffic areas.

Funded through the 2023 USDOT Safe Streets and Roads for All grant, FORWARD Orlando will transform high-need areas for pedestrian safety into dynamic living labs for safety countermeasures, quick-build and demonstration activities. These demonstration activities will inform a 5-year update to the Vision Zero Action Plan and development of the city’s Pedestrian Facilities Plan.

The local funding contribution of $791,600 will be contributed from the proceeds of the automated red light enforcement program. These funds are designated toward projects that provide safety improvements for all roadway users, including bicycle and pedestrians.
