Live at the Oak: Poetry, Performance, and Pollination

Live at the Oak: Poetry, Performance, and Pollination is a collaborative event taking place at the “Mayor's Tree,” a 350-year-old live oak – and features performances by Shawn Welcome, Emily Johnson, and Juan William Chávez.  

Note: This event will offer a special preview of the main Art Pollination event taking place at Lake Lorna Doone Park on Saturday, December 6, 2025, from 12 to 5 p.m. 

Join us to experience: 

  • Spoken word by Shawn Welcome, Poet Laureate of the City of Orlando. 
  • A poetry performance by Planting Seeds: Building Food Justice Slam Poets featuring Q Major, Camara Gaither, and Marquis Lee. 
  • Performances and quilting by renowned choreographer and community activist Emily Johnson. 
  • A planting and sound performance by Art Pollination Lead Artist Juan William Chávez. 
  • Artist conversation with Luca Molnar, Art Pollination artist, about her new mural, Worker Bees, in the Mennello Mural Garden. 

Art Pollination, Black Bee Honey small batch Ice Cream will be provided for attendees by Smile Ice Cream.
