GENERAL ITEMS

State of the City

We would like to invite you all to attend the 2025 State of the City Address, at the Plaza Live on Tuesday, August 19. We hope everyone will join us as we continue our celebration of Orlando’s 150th anniversary, reflect on our city’s evolution and renew our shared commitment to Orlando.

Orlando 150 – Thank staff for work and residents for celebrating

Last Thursday we celebrated a milestone: the City of Orlando’s one hundred fiftieth birthday.

Commissioners… we want to thank you for joining community groups to organize service events in your districts. We were able to visit each event, and it was great to see so many residents – and quite a few city employees – showcasing our city’s kindness and compassion on this special day. It was hot at the outdoor events, but everyone shared their pride in Orlando and helped strengthen our city.

ITEMS OF NOTE

3.b.11 - Lift Station 2 upgrades

On today’s agenda, we are moving forward with the update of Lift Station 2, which serves northwest Orlando and downtown. This project will replace a 70-year-old pipe that is reaching the end of its life. Projects like this one are key to building a better Orlando, by improving our city's infrastructure and long-term resilience.

This is especially relevant during hurricane season, as these types of infrastructure investments help prevent potential failures and service disruptions during severe weather events, ensuring a safer and more dependable system for our community.
