Event Showcases Storytime, Book Giveaways and Nature-Inspired Activities for Families

WHAT:
On Monday, July 7, 2025, Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer will join Orange County Library System (OCLS) Library Director and CEO Steve Powell at Harry P. Leu Gardens to celebrate a 20-year partnership with a free, family-focused community event highlighting the importance of early childhood literacy. The event will feature interactive Storytime sessions, book giveaways (while supplies last), literacy-themed crafts, and educational activities that connect reading with nature.

This event marks two decades of collaboration between the City of Orlando’s Harry P. Leu Gardens and OCLS in fostering a love of reading through nature-based storytelling experiences. It reaffirms the city’s commitment to early literacy development by providing engaging, accessible, and free programming for young children and their families.

Storytime Sessions:

  • Infants to 18 months - 10:00 – 10:15 a.m.
  • Toddlers - 10:20 – 10:35 a.m.
  • Preschoolers - 10:40 – 11:00 a.m.
