WHAT:
On Friday, March 28, 2025, Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer will join residents and community partners to kick off Bike to Work Day in celebration of Florida Bike Month. This event proudly showcases the City of Orlando’s Silver-level Bicycle Friendly Community designation while championing sustainable commuting options that make our city greener, healthier and more connected.
Mayor Dyer will kick off the group ride at 8 a.m. as participants embark on a scenic and energizing commute through the heart of Orlando. Riders will travel from Creative Village through downtown, finishing at Orlando City Hall—all while experiencing the city’s latest bike-friendly enhancements. The route highlights Amelia Complete Streets, the newly added bike lanes on Washington Street, the Hicks Avenue expansion, the Rosalind Avenue quick-build project and the city's vibrant intersection murals, making for an exciting and dynamic ride that underscores Orlando’s commitment to cycling infrastructure and safety in the downtown core.
At the end of the ride, participants will gather at City Hall Plaza for a lively post-ride celebration and award presentation. They will have the opportunity to explore the city’s latest bike infrastructure projects, connect with local biking organizations and discover valuable resources to support a more bike-friendly Orlando.

BIKING IN ORLANDO BACKGROUND:
Since 2003, Mayor Dyer has helped transform Orlando’s urban environment by investing in multi-modal projects that improve connectivity, such as the Orlando Bicycle Beltway, Colonial Drive Overpass, the Downtown Loop, and Orlando Bicycle Plan Update. Orlando is home to more than 360 miles of urban trails, signed routes, and lanes created specifically for biking, with more than 40 miles of these off-street.
Today, the City of Orlando is recognized as a Gold Bicycle Friendly Business (BFB) and a Silver Bicycle Friendly Community (BFC) by the League of American Bicyclists. The city was recognized for its investments in biking infrastructure and amenities at Orlando City Hall, including safe bike parking, bike repair stations, bike safety training, a bike share program, employee showers, and incentives such as bike commuter benefits.
